Leeds Legal launches its Education and Enterprise challenge for 2009
Leeds Legal is calling for the city’s law firms to get involved in Leeds’ largest annual volunteering initiative for the profession, Education and Enterprise Week .
Taking place Monday 12 – Friday 16 October, Leeds Legal Education and Enterprise Week, running in conjunction with Leeds Ahead, is set to welcome lawyers to take part in a range of school-based activities in some of city’s most deprived communities.
Last year’s event - which attracted almost 200 individuals from the city’s law firms - saw eager volunteers getting involved in running sessions on ‘the world of work’, mentoring children in the classroom and encouraging young people of all ages to take an interest in business and enterprise, but in a fun and friendly way!
Rosemary Edwards, director of Leeds Legal and a partner at Shulmans, said: “We’re delighted to be launching this year’s Leeds Legal volunteer initiative, it really is a great opportunity to get involved and give something back to the community.
“We felt that the Education and Enterprise theme worked very well for the volunteers last year, although for many it was the first time they had been back to school for a good few years! But they were happy to knuckle down and get involved with the activities, they all enjoyed
sharing their experiences and knowledge to inspire the children they were working with.”
